The great religious celebrations, such as Easter, the Pentecost, the Resurrection, and Christmas, are celebrated by almost all the population, imply careful preparation and are the occasion for important collective ceremonies. Closely connected to these religious customs, certain pagan traditions have also been preserved over time. These combine song, dance, versified storytelling, masks representing animal heads (goats, bears, stags, horses, etc), and costumes. From an ethnographic point of view, these rituals are extremely original. They can still be seen in various regions of the country, especially Moldova, Maramure║, and Vrancea.
